SEO, Search engine optimization is the process or optimizing techniques done on website to rank keywords on search engine page, where keywords are certain words the user ask for or the queries of user.

The queries asked by the user or the result s of search are being displayed on SERP (Search Engine Results Page).

SEO mainly constitute of 3 techniques namely crawling, caching and indexing.

Crawling capture new and updated websites as snapshots with the help of bots.These  snapshots are being saved in database and this process is Caching. The process in which these are being mapped by Google is called Indexing.

History and Evolution

History 

Popularly used search engine, Google was the result of two graduates, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, project works. Google was invented by them in 1998, Sept 4. Meanwhile in 2001, September 11, WTO attack took place but the people were not able to get updated information. So Google decided to share its algorithm with others so that it would be more beneficial for the users with the most updated information. Thus SEO Starter Guide was introduced to the world.

SEO ranking based on content: Here the quantity of the content matters and not the quality.So the length of the content kept on increasing but was not useful for the users.Another issue was of keyword stuffing, where the keywords are being added unnecessarily into the content to increase the page rank. To overcome this link spamming was introduced.

Link spamming:In link spamming certain links are being included in other links or web pages. But here unnecessary links or web pages increased or appeared on websites through payment.

Quality link: High authority value website links to low authority website and equity transfer between them takes place.

During 20th century Google found inflow of money through advertisements which include adsense, platform to place advertisements and adwords, advertisement focused on keywords (pay per click).

Page rank is a score (0-10) given by Google based on 200 factors and these factors include keywords, quality link, high quality content, domain authority, page authority etc.
Search results are of two types paid and organic results, where paid results are those which are to be paid to Google and organic results are the actual search results or useful information for the user.
